LINEN

At Native Spirit, we pay special attention to what our clothes are made up of. We want to provide you with the very best in high-quality softness when we make our products, supporting you with a lasting and ethical relationship.

This is why we have chosen to design some of our pieces using linen, the ultimate eco-friendly material.

Linen is a high-quality fabric used to create long-lasting, environmentally friendly, light and hard-wearing garments.

At the top of the list of eco-friendly materials, linen wins first place because of the many environmentally friendly qualities throughout its production chain. Flax cultivation does not require irrigation as plants grow naturally thanks to the sun's warmth and rainwater.

Water consumption is therefore low, and there is very little need for fertiliser and pesticides as it uses about 5 times less than cotton. Flax does not produce any CO2 because the roots fix this emission in the earth and retain nearly 250 tonnes of CO2 each year in Europe.

Every phase of linen manufacture uses very little energy.

Thanks to the ground retting method, a method that naturally extracts the fibres from the stem by alternating rain and sun from July to September, flax can also be processed using an environmentally friendly technique. So fibres are extracted on the land using a natural approach. And all the industrial processes for transforming the plant into yarn (hackling, combing, spinning, and weaving) are mechanical. Unlike most other fibres, no chemical solvents are used. Precautions only have to be taken when dyeing or applying special treatments.

As well as being environmentally friendly, flax does not produce any waste as all of its components can be used.

Our 100% linen T-shirts are fully eco-friendly products that are kind to the environment.

Linen can absorb up to 20% moisture without appearing wet, making it one of the most comfortable fabrics to wear in summer. It is also a thermoregulatory fabric and adapts to temperature variations to cool you down in summer and retain heat in winter.

Last but not least, linen is anti-allergenic and very healthy since its absorbent characteristics and its rapid drying prevent perspiration from stagnating on the surface of the skin or in sheets, which is ideal if you suffer from skin issues.
