RECYCLED COTTON

Every year, 4 million tonnes of clothing are discarded in Europe.

The most commonly used material in the textile sector, cotton is also the most wasted and the biggest generator of waste.

Almost 10,000 litres of water are needed to produce just 1kg of cotton, i.e. 2500 litres for a 250g T-shirt.

Recycled materials have less impact on the planet as they require much less water and energy during their transformation.

Recycled clothing is made from recycled and reused materials. There are two processes. The first is the recycling of pre-used materials or clothing. This is known as post-consumer recycling, i.e. these materials are given a “post-consumption” second life to prevent the use of virgin materials in textile production.

To lower our ecological footprint and prevent waste of any kind, we have chosen to integrate recycled cotton into our production chain for the manufacturing of high-quality clothing.

Cotton is a natural plant fibre surrounding cotton plants. It is the world’s most produced natural textile fibre, especially in the textile industry.

Comfortable, durable and ethical

OUR CLOTHES DESIGNED FROM RECYCLED COTTON ARE ALSO SOFT AND ETHICAL.

There are various forms of cotton recycling. The recycling of well-worn clothing, material waste or fabric unused by production plants. Cotton recycling provides an outlet for all of this textile waste.

In addition to the ecological and ethical aspect, cotton recycling considerably reduces energy expenditure during production with its ecological footprint much lower than that of conventional cotton.

At Native Spirit, we have decided to replace traditional cotton with organic cotton and recycled cotton. All of our recycled products have GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification from the Ecocert Greenlife organisation.

This label certifies that our textile products are manufactured with at least 50% recycled materials and ensures their traceability throughout the production chain to provide you with correct, verified information.

Our pieces made with recycled materials contain either pre-consumer or post-consumer material.

Pre-consumer recycled material is diverted from the waste stream during the production process. The reuse of materials able to be reclaimed within the same process that generated them is completely excluded.

Post-consumer material is generated by households or end users of a product which can no longer be used for the intended purpose. This includes material returns from the distribution chain.
